The last gift

Lacey was only 5 yrs old. I miss her trill with a chirping voice. She always talked to me, greeted me, and came running when I called. Chickens do have personalites. Its too quiet in the coop without her voice. If you have been visiting my blog, auctions, or website, you no doubt have seen her picture. She was a Brahma, a heavy breed. They are docile, and lay huge eggs, and are have fluffy feathers, not a sleek bird, but a robust bird. I am thinking about rehoming all the other chickens. I dont know yet. Hubby and I talked about that morning, Sparky had gone running with hubby over 2 miles, yet still had enough energy to to get into trouble, awful trouble. I had a hard time looking at him for a few days. Life goes on. The last egg in the nest she left me........so dear. I tucked some of her feathers in my pocket. I cant let go.

Pam, what a precious egg she left you, a fragile token of love..fragile like all our lives really are. Lacey was lucky to have been so adored, her trills showed how happy she was in your presence. I wish all animals can experience unconditional love, such as you showed for her.

~my thoughts are with you. hugs, pp
